Following are the
advantage of using powermax plasma cutting over oxy fuel:
1. Plasma requires no preheating
i. Oxy-fuel requires preheating the metal to kindling
temperature before cutting can begin.
· Example: 8mm mild steel requires about 10 seconds
of preheat time before cutting.
· A Powermax 105 would have already cut 400 mm of
material.
2. Plasma is significantly faster
i. Plasma cut speeds are up to 6 times faster than oxy-fuel.

ii. In 15 minutes of production cutting 6mm steel:
· Oxy-fuel torch will cut about 8m of metal
·A Powermax 105 system
will cut about 50m of metal!
3. Plasma Cuts almost all metals
i. Plasma can cut virtually any metal including rusted
steel, stainless steel, aluminum and many others.
ii. Oxy-fuel is limited to cutting just mild steel (ferrous
metal).
4. Plasma Cuts thin material better
i. Plasma cuts thin gauge metal at fast speeds with very
little war page in the material for easier fit up.
ii. Oxy-fuel cuts slowly and puts a large amount of heat into
the material that causes it to warp.
